Smokey Eye Look: New Year’s Party

FullSizeRender-30Hey guys! I’d like to share with you my smokey eye makeup look, perfect for a new year’s celebration. Unlike my last makeup tutorial, this one is all about the eyes. Enjoy!

FullSizeRender-12I started with foundation and concealer. I used a lighter foundation on my cheekbones, forehead and down my nose, and a slightly darker one under my cheekbones, on my temples and the sides of my nose. This gives a bit of a contoured effect when you blend it out. I put some concealer under my eyes and on my blemishes.

FullSizeRender-13Then bronzer and highlighter! I don’t tend to use blush as my cheeks are naturally quite pink, but you could add some here if you like. I swept a little bronzer under my cheekbones, along my jaw and temples. I then used my finger to dab highlighter (or white eyeshadow also works well!!) on my cheekbones, brow bones and down my nose. This gives more shape to my face.FullSizeRender-14.jpgBrows! I lightly went over my eyebrows with a pencil and brushed them into place. I like to use a white eyeshadow to outline them, and then blend out the line to make them more defined. FullSizeRender-16For eyeshadow, I started with a gold tone over my whole eyelids. Then I blended some black eyeliner pencil on the outer corners of my lash line. To give a smokey effect, I blended some dark brown eyeshadow into the crease and over the outer corner of my eyelid. I added some white eyeliner pencil to the inner corner to brighten up my eyes. Makeup like this will make your eyes appear further apart. If you want them to look closer together, use a darker tone in the middle and a lighter shade on the outsides. Finish off with a coat of mascara on the top and bottom lashes.FullSizeRender-32All that’s needed now is a touch of nude lipstick and voila 🙂 I’m wearing an ivory lace dress with my Zara “leather” jacket. FullSizeRender-31Let me know what you thought of this makeup look, and if you would like to see some more! I love you all, have an amazing day, and happy new year!

Christmas Nails Inspiration!

Countdown to Christmas: 15

Hi guys, it’s almost Christmas! I don’t know about you, but I’m super excited. I put the tree up yesterday, got my Christmas sweaters and gingerbread lattes.. but something is still missing… Nails!

I hope this collection of ideas inspire you to get creative with some nail art this season!

de46ef2196a5d0208522adb9b852065f3. This is perhaps for the more talented nail artists among us. It looks really effective though. If you’re struggling with this precision, you could always go for some Christmas-sweater nail wraps.

Zoella Christmas Makeup Tutorial

Countdown to Christmas: 5Screen Shot 2015-12-05 at 16.12.34

Yes.. I missed two days.. I’m an awful human being, soz guys.

Anyways! Today I thought I’d have a bit of fun and attempt to recreate Zoella’s Christmas makeup look. I have been especially loving her makeup this season, she looks incredible (as always). Let’s begin!!!

  1. Cover your face in foundation. I chose a pale shade with a peachy
undertone, similar to Zoella’s skin. Feel free to use concealer too to cover up any blemishesFullSizeRender-5 2. Next I applied some bronzer under my cheekbones and around the edge of my face. I also added some highlighter (a.k.a. white eyeshadow) along my cheekbones, down my nose and chin to add some shape to my face. FullSizeRender-6

3. Brows! I used a mixture of eyebrow pencil and eyeshadow to lightly define my brows. I need a bit of practise at this! A good tip is to blend some white eyeliner around your brows to make them more defined. They do look different colours here, but I promise you it was the lighting! FullSizeRender-7

4. Eye time! Zoella has been going for a simple gold-champagne eye look recently. I used a lighter champagne over my lids, dabbed some gold in the centre and swept a darker tone through the crease.FullSizeRender-10

5. Zoella’s lashes always look amazing. After applying mascara, I used an eyebrow brush to separate my lashes for a more natural (less spidery) look. Using white eyeliner in the inner corners and waterline can brighten your eyes as well. FullSizeRender-11

6. The most distinctive part, the red lips! I went for something slightly darker than Zoella, using a mix of lipstick and gloss. And the look is complete! FullSizeRender-12

Thanks for reading! I wish you an amazing day and very merry Christmas!

Lots of love,

Bring back the golds! I love this look for fall, it is also great to use red based toned if you have green or blue eyes.
berry lips are an autumn must have. If you're apprehensive about this bold look, why not go for a deeper red tone?

I think knotted up-does look beautiful for autumn. Section off your hair, then tie the individual sections in knots, starting from the top and incorporating the other pieces as you move down.

Quick Update: Hi there lovelies 🙂 sorry I haven’t been posting much recently, I’ve been getting back into school for my final year. I’m currently off sick with a cold haha. I hope you’re all doing great, thanks for all the support, I love you so much! xx

Summer Holiday Drugstore Beauty Haul

FullSizeRender-38Hello beautiful 🙂 as you know, I spent a month in the UK during the summer. I couldn’t wait for this opportunity to splash out and purchase some great skincare and makeup products. Here are my selection of drugstore purchases, enjoy!

°°°°°°°°°°

FullSizeRender-32Dove Summer Glow Nourishing Lotion: If you’re like me and have very pale skin, the selection of summer’s fake tanning products can be daunting! I actually purchased this product two years ago and I still love it. It’s a very hydrating lotion that leaves your skin feeling silky and smelling amazing. It’s tanning properties are extremely subtle, so you don’t have to worry about turning orange! I would really recommend this one.

FullSizeRender-34Simple Soothing Facial Toner: This one’s another repurchase. I really love Simple products and unfortunately we can’t get them in Germany 😦 This leaves your skin feeling smooth and toned, it doesn’t have an aroma so it’s perfect for sensitive skin.

FullSizeRender-35Superdrug Vitamin E Moisturising Mask: I’ve tried one of the face masks
from Superdrug before, but I found it extremely harsh and irritating on my skin. Thankfully I discovered this one! It has a milky texture and fresh aroma and leaves the skin feeling supple, nourished and super soft 🙂

FullSizeRender-33Nuage Facial Scrub:  I hadn’t come across this brand before, but was attracted by the simple ingredients, its claim to be mild for the skin, and the price (99p in Bodycare!!). Exfoliation is good for the skin, but I’ve learned from experience that over scrubbing is not a good idea. I am a big fan of this scrub, it’s not too grainy and leaves the skin feeling amazing. I use this a couple times per week.

Rimmel WFullSizeRender-36ake Me Up Concealer: I’d heard great reviews of this product, and I have to say that I understand why people have been raving about it. I use the tone 010 Ivory, and I find that it really blends into my skin well whilst giving great coverage. I would definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a trustworthy concealer.

FullSizeRender-37Sunkissed Eye Palette and Bronzer: And last but not least I picked up this palette from Primark. It was such a bargain and I love the colours. They aren’t super pigmented, but I think the tones are a perfect staple for all year round, the slight shimmer also adds to the summery glow 🙂

So those are all my beauty purchases from my summer holiday in the UK. I hope you enjoyed this selection and maybe feel inspired. I would love to know what you’re favourite beauty products are so that I can check them out when I’m next over there. Lots of love,

Hope x

Get Ready With Me: Beach Day

Hi there 🙂 Since the sun has been shining, I thought I would head down to the beach. I can’t wait to share my day with you, come get ready with me! Enjoy 🙂

FullSizeRender-21

– – Make up – –

Step 1 is make up. I don’t anything clogging up my pores so I’m going for a natural summery look. I’m using some bronzer and the lightest shade from my Sunkissed FullSizeRender-23palette as highlighter to define my cheekbones. Then I’m taking a wash of the golden colour (second from right bottom row) over my eyelids, before adding a little of the white shade into the corners of my eyes. Finishing off with Maybelline’s Classic Volume Express mascara in brown to add natural-looking length to my lashes.

– – Hair – –

I’m putting my hair up in a wrap-around crown braid so that it’s out of my face aFullSizeRender-22nd won’t blow around if it’s windy at the beach. To do this, start with a french braid but only add in more pieces of hair from the bottom strand, slowly work your way around your head, incorporating all the hair, then secure with bobby pins. I did this quite loosely to give a casual feel (try to hide the pins better than me!!).

– – Outfit – –

FullSizeRender-17I’ve chosen to wear a lightweight white summer dress (C&A) with comfy blue flip-flops (local shoe store). I also have my sunglasses (Madonna) and beach bag (H&M). I bought my bikini last year from
H&M, it was originally white, but turned pink when it was accidentally put in a coloured wash! So this summer I bought some clothes dye and dyed it light blue (and I love it!).

– – At the beach – –

The weather was so FullSizeRender-20gorgeous down at the beach today! It was even warm enough to go for a refreshing swim. As we’d had a large breakfast, I packed a light picnic lunch to snack on at the beach.

I had a great day at the beach, thanks for coming along and getting ready with me! Let me know if you like this slightly different style of post. I wish you an awesome day, lots of love.

What’s in my travel bag? Cosmetics Essentials

FullSizeRender-10Hey there 🙂 As I’m currently on holiday in the UK for 4 weeks, I thought I would share with you the contents of my cosmetics bag! Hope you enjoy 🙂

The Basics..FullSizeRender-11

  • I can’t travel anywhere without my toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant and lip balm! My dentist recommended this floss to me, as I have brackets and a wirebehind my front teeth, and this product has a plastic end, which is really helpful. My favourite toothpaste ever is Colgate Total, the one I have here is still good though. This lip balm is great too, it has a very subtle vanilla flavour.

Hands/Nails..FullSizeRender-12

  • I brought my favourite nail polish with me on holiday: Maybelline Super Stay Mint for Life 615. I also use coconut oil, in this clear bottle here, to massage into my cuticles.  I bought this handy little hand cream to fit in my bag. It’s hydrating, but I don’t like the smell of it at all! I’m trying to use it up, haha.

For the Face..FullSizeRender-13

  • I just had to bring my beloved Simple Moisturising Facial Wash and Anti-blemish moisturiser. I also have a mini pot of E45 cream for the drier areas of my face. I’m keeping my skin care very basic and gentle for my skin at the moment, although I do plan on being some exfoliating face wash whilst I’m here 🙂

Hair and Body..FullSizeRender-14

  • I have my little travel bottles of shampoo and conditioner with me! Right now I’m using the Aussie Miracle Moist shampoo and conditioner, which I really love and would definitely recommend. I also brought my Body Shop Mango body scrub and butter with me – I love the smell so so much 🙂

Make up..FullSizeRender-15

  • I’ve kept my make up range minimal for the time of my stay here in the UK. I have my beloved Rimmel Match Perfection foundation and Manhattan Soft Compact powder, as well as my staple mascara: Volcano Precise by Manhattan, and eyelash curler. I brought along my Alterra 15 Red Wine lipstick, because who knows when you’re going to need some red lipstick eh? I have my P2 Express eyebrow pencil and a mini container of Taylor Swift Wonderstruck perfume, which has a very bright and slightly sweet smell.

I hope you enjoyed this little rummage through my travel bag! Let me know what your travel essentials are. Have an awesome day, I hope the sun is shining wherever you are 🙂

Quick Update: how are you doing my lovelies? I’m great 🙂 I’m into the third weekFullSizeRender-16 of my internship. I’ve been able to do crazy things, like run my own memory experiment and wear an EEG cap, so that I can see my brain waves! It’s really fascinating, and it’s confirming in my mind that I have made the right decision to study psychology 🙂 Here I am hanging out with my EEG cap friends 😉
